This fax is in response
to your question about why I would not put Warrant on the Vince Neil and Slaughter
package.
The first time I did Warrant,
Jani Lane was very polite, sober, and business like. I was very happy with the
turnout, his performance, and the profits.
The second time I did him, when
we first met that evening, he was just as polite and business like but, as the
night wore on, he became very inebriated and rude.
He demanded 17 towels.
I had several different people bringing what towels they could to add up to 17.
One of the people forgot their five so we were five short. I asked him to go get
them and he did, but thought as long as he had them back by the end of the show
he would be OK, so he did not rush. Jani Lane would not go on until he had the
last of his 17 towels, and then waited another half an hour after that.
In
total, a hour and a half dead time went by between the opening act and Warrant.
The people were pissed to say the least!
He then mentioned 11 times during
the show, how fucked up he was. The show time was arranged ahead and he knew that
in Iowa, we have to quit selling alcohol at 2:am.
At 15 minutes till, he was
done with all his stuff and doing Led Zeppelin material when I told the road manager
to get him wrapped up.
At two minutes till two, I went up there again and said
you have to get him off after this song and then I went back to the sound board.
He
finished at 2:02 real time. The road manager walked out on stage and told him
to quit. He then said, into the microphone, "Well they tell me I have to
get out of here" and of course the crowd booed and hissed. He then said,
"I don't want to piss the bar owner off...Well, fuck him!" and went
into 'Whole Lot Of Lovin' by Led Zeppelin.
As I said, I was at the sound board,
so I shut him off. The sound man brought him back up. I shut him back down. When
he tried to bring him back up, I physically threw him out from behind the sound
board and a fight between us proceeded.
After taking care of him, Jani was
still singing and the band playing with just their stage equipment. I went after
him!
The crew drug him off the stage and out to the bus before I could make
my way through the crowd and to the stage.
Now,
you can surely understand why I do not want to see Jani Lane on my stage again.
I will admit that I am a big fan of Warrant and have been since the beginning.
I also have made good money both times he has played but, I am also a business
man and I expect to be treated as such. I have Vince Neil coming in the 17th and
Collective Soul in July so I do not need the Warrant show headaches.
In
conclusion, I would only reconsider my actions with a personal apology from Jani
Lane himself.
I am sorry if I have caused
you any inconvenience, for I have nothing against you.
