| In my years in the music business, Tim Kelly of Slaughter was one of the most down-to-earth rockers I ever had the pleasure to work with. Of course I have a story to tell about him. Slaughter did a gig for me once several years back and it was one of the better shows of all time. They were one of the easiest to work with bands I ever had and they put on a great show. Over the day during preparation for the show, and after the show, Tim and I became pretty good friends. As you can assume, drugs are prevalent in that business and I was asked many times by traveling musicians for contacts. Of course, I never wanted to get my hands dirty, but if I liked the guy, I would send them in the right direction. That night after the show, Tim asked me and I directed him to a friend of mine, Don, who by the way is now serving time in a federal prison in South Dakota. Anyway, Tim gave Don the money after my assurance and Don made a run for some rock cocaine. However, after getting hung up for some reason, Don wasn't back in time before the group's bus left. I apologized to Tim and told him I'd get the money back from Don, which I knew I would, and pay him in a couple of weeks when they did the Ottumwa show. I don't think he believed me for a second but when I showed up in Ottumwa and paid him, we became great friends and spent that night partying together. He then called me that next year when they came back through, and although I didn't do the show because it was in a package I didn't want, he did invite me to come to Clinton and put me on the guest list. I went to the show and made my way back to the band just as he promised and we had a good time together that day and after they played we hung out through Warrant and Motley Crue. He promised to call me when they came back and gave me his home number so that when I made my way to Vegas(his hometown) again I could look him up. When I did last year, I called him but he was on the road in Florida. So anyway, Tim Kelly was a great guy, a great musician, and he and his band are one of the few who have not sold out the great form of eighties metal. They are exactly the same as how they were when they made it. They were still all-original which is unusual, and their last album was their best. How many 80s bands can say that? Tim Kelly: he will be missed. Any thoughts? Stacy .c The Associated Press BAGDAD, Ariz. (AP) - The guitarist
