Veteran rockers marry glam, metal for raw '70s sound 03/12/04 Gary
Graff Even though it has a bit of all-star firepower with Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx and L.A. Guns' Tracii Guns as members, Brides of Destruction was founded on some modest goals. "The intention of this band was not to be the biggest thing in the world," Sixx says. "It's just to write great music. Hey, let's just write music and see what happens. It's not creating hit songs or saying 'Oh, this needs to sound like this.' " That said, the new "Here Come the Brides" (Sanctuary) takes its sonics and song crafting seriously, and Sixx says he, Guns and their bandmates - singer London LeGrand and drummer Scot Coogan - hope their blend of glam, metal and punk will sound fresh to a contemporary audience. "It doesn't really sound quite like
what's being shoved at everybody right now," Sixx says. "It's a little
more '70s pop-metal. It's got punk-rock influences. It's high-energy and it's
diverse and it's . . . hard to explain. It's just a real raw-sounding first record." From: http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/friday/1079087621253910.xml |
