Willie Nelson says he'll still play Duluth

NEWS TRIBUNE

Although Willie Nelson has canceled May and June concert dates because of an injury, his publicist says he will play the July 17 Green Man Festival in Duluth.

"July is on," said publicistElaine Shock, who has reassured Green Man organizers.

The outlaw country legend was in so much pain that he couldn't finish a May 8 concert in Las Vegas, the Associated Press reported Tuesday. Shortly afterward, Nelson elected to have carpal tunnel surgery that requires three to six weeks of recovery.

It's no surprise Nelson suffers from a repetitive strain injury in his hand. The 71-year-old has played guitar since he was a child and is known for his loaded tour schedules.

Carl Soderberg, the Green Man Festival's director of media relations, said he has faith Nelson will be on the road again by July.
